CARES Mandate
Everyone's dream is of a loving home; our cats are no exception. CARES provides a safe haven for homeless animals and our goal is to find permanent, loving homes for them. The cats in our care receive quality food, shelter, and medical attention. We meet the needs of homeless animals through the assistance of dedicated volunteers, and from private donations. Please help give them a place to belong. You can help the cats by:- Adopting a suitable pet
- Becoming a volunteer
- Becoming a CARES member
- Donating funds and supplies (we are a registered charity #891350274RR0001)
- Spreading the word about CARES
Our History
CARES Canadian Animal Rescue and Extended Shelter was formed in 1994 when a group of animal lovers wanted a shelter for animals who were homeless. We provide shelter for stray, abandoned and unwanted cats in a safe, loving, cageless environment. There is a no kill policy at CARES, therefore any animals who are not adopted will be able to live the rest of their natural lives at the shelter.CARES is funded entirely through membership, adoption fees, fundraising events, and the generous tax-deductible donations of caring individuals like yourself. CARES is a nonprofit society and a registered Charity; ALL DONATIONS receive a tax receipt. Please contact us and make a difference!
A Safe and Caring Home - the basis of a good life
In February of 1998, CARES began an alliance with PETsMART in Langley. Cats who are rescued, receive quality food, shelter, and veterinary care and many of those cats are then taken to the PETsMART adoption centre in the Langley store. From February, 1998 to June, 2007, we have adopted out over 3000 cats from that location! As a small, non-profit organization we rely on our community of volunteers to help us keep the shelter clean and the cats well-loved. Our volunteers assist with adoptions at PETsMART as well as cleaning, caring for the cats, fostering cats and kittens and generally providing love and protection for abused, hungry, lost and abandoned animals. If you can find it in your heart to help, please call (604-532-5632) or you can send us an email.
